When she says there's nothing I can do about future love in some other life, I can't help thinking she's wrong. If anything, I've probably hurt Ian's chances, and that irritates me.
At the point where she tells me about real and unconditional love, I pause and look at her. I hope the look I gave her didn't look too wary of the claim.

Like most, I don't want to admit right away that I'm wrong.
